Passionate love is depicted in Goethes work, The Sorrows of Young Winter. The central character of Goethes book is Werther. From his correspondence with his acquaintance Wilhelm we find out that he is about twenty and not yet, understands what the aim of his life is, and which profession he will occupy. A different character is Lotte,who is 19-years-old, the daughter of a lonely officer. from the time when her mother’s died, she has been managing the household alone and is careful to her younger siblings. She was engaged for a secretary Albert, who is a kind and temperate man but turn out to be Werthers rival. The person who reads does not find out anything concerning Wilhelm, to whom Werthers correspond. Moreover, reader needs to speculate about the things that are written in Wilhelms letters by the content of Werthers answers. Consequently, the reader himself happens to be on Wilhelm’s place. Werther, who is of middle-class origin, leaves his house to put some order into the accounts of family property of his mother. But in a little while he forgets his mission and spends his time taking pleasure of his life and long days in the nature.

When a duke suggests him a work as an envoy, Werther expects to mentally, and psychologically escape Lottes influence.

His attempts to do well as a citizen in dignity are crushed by the conditions of the social order determined by class. disappointed Werther comes back to the place his heart names home, to Lotte. Nevertheless, while Werther was away, Lotte and Albert have wedded. Werthers state of mind becomes ever more unbalanced by this clear and undefeatable obstruction for his absolute love. His motive cannot hold back his feelings. Once in nighttime Werther pays a visit to Lotte as Albert is absent. He embraces and kisses her fervently and throws himself toher legs. However, Lotte breaks free and escapes to another room with the aim not to give in to Werthers passions. Distressed after this incident, Werther goes on with a letter he had started before, takes from Albert two revolvers under pretence and kills himself.
