1.) Increased Typing Speed
Of course the first thing that comes to mind is increasing your typing speed. Not everyone can type 50 words per minute or more. If you are a “hunt and peck” kind of typist who uses one finger then you might want to invest in a typing course. For those of you who are around the 20 word per minute range, the only thing that will help is to keep working at it. Type every day and your speed will increase.
2.) Write About Familiar Things
Write about subjects that you are at least familiar with. Subjects that you know little about will cost you time in doing research.
3.) Practice, Practice, Practice
I know we have all heard that but the old adage is true. The more you work at something the better you will get. When I started out I was typing around 25 words per minute and it seemed like it took hours to write a single article. Over time my skills progressed and though I haven’t taken a typing test in quite a while, I would guess that my typing speed is somewhere around 60 to 70 words per minute.
4.) Speech Recognition Software
Another thing that might help you to write more articles in less time is to purchase Speech Recognition Software. Using this software they burden of typing will be greatly lessened. These programs are not perfect however and do not always get the words you speak correctly translated to your document. You will still have to edit the final copy.
5.) Article Length
Have a clear goal when it comes to the number of words you want to write. I try to keep my articles between 350 and 450 words, but occasionally I get long winded and end up with 700 words or more. Shoot for a target somewhere around 350 words in your article marketing campaign. I have found that this amount is usually enough to get your point across without putting your reader to sleep.
I also save time by writing more than one article at a time. Ok maybe I am weird but what can I say. Usually I come up with 5 to 10 subjects and open a separate word document for each of them. I then write the opening paragraph for each document in order followed by the concluding paragraph.
Once I have the opening and closing paragraphs I can move back and forth through the documents. If I get stuck on one I can simply switch to another and write there. Using this method I can usually complete the entire group in an hour or less.
